Celebrating Lincoln Recreation Center's Gilbert Gong Film
The Oakland Chinatown Chamber attended the Oakland Originals Film Screening
On October 7th, the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Oakland Originals documentary “The Heart of Lincoln Square” spotlighting Oakland Chinatown’s very own Gilbert Gong.
Directed by J.P Dobrin, the documentary spotlights a park that became a center for multi-generational programming under Gilbert’s leadership and what’s more to come to Lincoln Recreation Center.
The opening ceremony featured a Lion Dance ceremony performed by the Lincoln Explorers Lion Dance Team. This performance was dedicated to Ms. Kathy Gin, a beloved leader and teacher to many and also helped lead programs at the park and children programs. She will be dearly missed. Her influence will forever live on in our local Chinatown community.
